Things to Do in Normandy

Whether on Holiday at La Guépinière self catering or just here for a night or two's b & b why not combine the cultural highlights of visits to spectacular châteaux and cathedrals in the region with a wealth of natural environments. The beautiful forests are perfect for exploration on foot, horseback or mountain bike, and the clear waters of the lakes and rivers are enticing spots for swimming, boating and fishing. Or, if your would rather just relax and enjoy a swim in our pool - the options are endless.

Horse Riding in Normandy



Horse lovers will enjoy a visit to the Haras du Pin (the National Stud Farm) set in vast beautiful green countryside. Each Thursday, June to September, you will see the amazing presentation of stallions and carriages. We also have several riding schools within a short range for those wishing to ride in the forests.


Golf in Normandy



There are many beautiful and challenging golf courses in the region, within a few minutes drive there are two nine-hole courses, while at Belleme Saint-Martin there is a magnificent 18 hole course.


Walking & Bike Riding in Normandy



The Foret d'Ecouves covers a vast area and has the most stunning walks - these are circular, very well signed and range from approx 7 km to 33 km!

Those wishing to cycle in the forest will also have an amazing experience.


Bird Watching to Butterfly Spotting in Normandy



The area has a plethora of amazing birds to watch - especially the large birds of prey.
Butterflies are also to be seen in abundance!

Or, should you just wish to drive and have a picnic there are several areas catering for you.

Markets in Normandy



Alencon sports 4 weekly markets (Tues, Thurs, Sat & Sun) where you can buy fresh vegetables, fish, cheese, flowers, clothes etc. Markets can be found in most other towns during the week .


Le Mans


Le Mans is only 35 minutes away for those wishing to visit the car museum or (on appropriate dates), the Classic Car Rally , the 24 hour Endurance Car Race or the 24 hour Motorcycle Race.
